our cat villa is severely overcrowded, and has been for a while. the main manifestation is fur loss. many of the cats are suffering from severe fur loss. we initially thought it might be due to disease, but tests turned up nothing and treatments didn't work. one of the top vets in the country told us that it is due to stress

we decided there are two ways to deal with this. 1) build an extension so the cats have more room. 2) open a cat cafe in the city so that we can both alleviate overcrowding by transferring some of our cats to the cat cafe, and also have a means of showcasing our cats and getting them adopted

for more than two months, we scoured the city for a suitable location. we checked countless rental properties. we were prepared to pay a lot of rent. we only needed to break even, not make a profit

however, we completely understimated rent you have to pay for good properties. the only properties we could afford were out of the way, meaning we'd have to spend on advertising to drive traffic to the cafe. several prime spots disallowed food and beverage, before we even mentioned cats. needless to say, opening a business in a bad location is pointless, because it is bound to fail

in the end, we gave up on the cat cafe idea

we are now focused on building an extension. this will house a lot of cats. the cat villa will be turned into a lounge, which will welcome visitors without appointment. anyone will be welcome to drop by and chill with the cats. we'll put in a TV and air conditioning. there will be no entrance fee. hopefully people will come even though our location is terrible

we've always been hesitant about visitors, mainly because the dogs go bananas whenever strangers show up. to solve that problem we will be building a side entrance so that visitors can sneak into the lounge without the dogs noticing

the extension will take about a month to build, depending on funding. we will be posting regular updates of the construction work

PLEASE NOTE, THE LOUNGE IS NOT READY YET. YOU STILL NEED AN APPOINTMENT TO VISIT THE SHELTER
